Let’s face it, selling can be scary! It can intimidate and shake even the most confident people. Fear of rejection is common amongst all classes of business, especially those who are just learning how to sell. We often feel guilty or as if we are a burden when we approach potential customers. We grapple with whether our price point is too high or low. We fear how we might be perceived by our peers and clients.

When you think about it we sell every day. Whether it’s convincing your kids turn off the TV and come to dinner or come with you to run errands. Maybe it’s negotiating a girls night out with the gang or getting your partner to agree to a big purchase or much-needed vacation.

All these things have something in common, they are all selling. When no currency is exchanged we feel capable of having conversations that get buy-in from others. We clearly articulate the benefits, speak confidently about the return on investment, and have no problems negotiating the terms. We can do all of this because we don’t call it sales.

It’s REALLY an innate skill that we all possess.

So what if what we have to offer is actually needed, helps save people time and money, or moves them forward both personally and professionally. Shifting this perception in others is all about shifting our own mindset. By finding value in what we have to offer, we shift our perception of sales, learn how to attract more unicorn clients, develop momentum to work more efficiently and ultimately create space to do more of what we love.
