Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up every day happy?
As a mom, imagine what it would be like to truly enjoy your work AND your family with no unnecessary pressure, worry or overwhelm. Savor that soccer game and ballet recital. Enjoy that networking event and team meeting. And even get home feeling great about yourself! How amazing would that be?
The thing is that for most working moms this sounds like a fairy tale.
I mean, think about it. There’s so much to do….the kids, the husband, ballet, soccer, dinner, work …and then if you’re lucky, there’s some time left for you.
But it seems like no matter how hard you try, you are drowning and you feel like there’s no way to come up for air.
This is because as working moms,
we’ve been taught that we need to balance.
You are trying to “balance” the intense pressure of being a wonderful mom, a loving wife and a successful business owner or employee, yet you barely have time for yourself while you’re trying to be everything to everyone.
But how can we even do that?
I mean, how can we give of ourselves if we can barely make it through the day? When I speak to working moms, I’m amazed at how much we self-impose the stress of having to do it all while seeming to keep it together. It has so many feeling captive and they don’t know how to escape and be free.
And here’s what’s crazy. You could take a break, but taking a break would be perceived as being selfish. And that’s not what “good” moms do. “Good” moms don’t take breaks. “Good” business owners don’t go on vacation. “Good” employees don’t go out for lunch. There’s a great amount of guilt, isn’t there?
Then, there’s that back and forth – Should I? Shouldn’t I? Do you ever feel that you’re constantly doubting yourself? You’re exhausted, but there’s that voice inside of you that tell you that this is what it takes to be “good” at it all.
Chances are, though, this isn’t what you want. This isn’t how you want to live your life.
What you want is – you want to breathe.
You want to have time to actually enjoy your kids. Not feel guilty about screaming at your kids and actually feel good about the stuff you’re doing. You DO want to show up as an amazing employee. You DO want to grow your business. You DO want to be there 100% for your family.
I understand. I was once there. I felt like I was balancing it all because I was doing it all. I was running my business, I was being a “good” mom and a “good” wife…but I was running ragged. It got to the point that I was so exhausted, I could barely breathe.
Then, I realized I could make some tweaks in my life that could turn it all around. And when I made the tweaks, I looked around and realized that I wasn’t the only one. There were other moms feeling guilt, feeling the pressure to be “good” at it all, dying to just breathe.
These tweaks were so successful that I created a movement to teach other women how to enjoy their work and family in the same way I do today.
I am so grateful to have been able to help countless women boycott balance. And now you can too! I've created an audio series based on my Amazon best-selling book BALANCE IS BULL$H!T: How being a Mom,Wife, and Entrepreneur Taught me that Balance is a Myth.
