Has Your Relationship Turned Into a Twitter Feed?

"I'm fine." "Nothing is wrong."

"I'm okay."

Really? Really? Come on, now! Are you sticking with the character limit on Twitter now?

Countless marriages and longstanding relationships have amounted to limited conversations that sound more like a tweet than a conversation between two people who vowed to spend the rest of their lives together.

Is it because our time is so limited? Are we over-scheduled? Have our kids or careers become a priority over our valued relationships?

I am here to shake things up a bit and remind my fellow sisters to stop it! Let's get out of that rough patch. Stop pushing buttons and dropping bombs. Stop checking out of conversations when it's convenient and work at making your relationship one that is fruitful and enjoyable.

I'm not trying to be preachy. I am, in fact, speaking from experience. I was once the wife that couldn't get her point across without offending my husband. And, boy, have I learned my lesson!  You see, like the adage goes, you get more bees with honey than with vinegar. And at the end of the day, isn't that what we all want? A little more honey in our lives?

So, as Valentine's Day approaches, let's remember the valuable relationships in our lives. Let's remember the promises we've made to love through thick and thin. And most importantly, stop making those conversations a tweet!
